How many times as educators have we found ourselves in a dilemma about creating tests that accurately assess our students? Time and again we find testing material given to us by textbook companies does not reflect what it is we want or need to assess. Often, it is necessary to combine what textbook companies offer with our own questions when making tests.

To help me with the process of test making, I have utilized ExamView Pro for the last year and a half. ExamView allows me to easily incorporate questions I cover specifically in class. ExamView also allows me to create tests with question types I would like to use instead of what the textbook company favors. I prefer to integrate multiple choice, matching, and true/false questions into my objective sections. Again, ExamView allows me not only to include these types of questions but also purposely choose what I want tested.

Another great feature of ExamView is that it gives me the ability to write questions using a narrative. The narrative can be almost anything-including photos, reading passages, or maps. I can write a group of questions dealing directly with the subject matter of the narrative, permitting students to easily focus on what is being asked of them.

ExamView's flexibility enables the test maker to write tests integrating more than one learning style, which helps increase the students' chance for success. Isn't this the goal of all educators? Also, the time you spend creating the test is paid back by the time ExamView saves by grading it for you. ExamView is the only program I know of that easily allows for tests that match the teaching style of the educator and the multiple learning styles of the students.
